Newbury Park Area: Location and History

Newbury Park is located in East London in the Borough of Redbridge. The area remained wholly agricultural until the early 20th century. Newbury Park Station opened in 1903, but the building of residential properties didn’t start in earnest until after the First World War.

As a result, the majority of the housing stock in Newbury Park is terraced and semi-detached 1930s homes. These properties tend to have generous plot sizes, offering the potential to extend, and large bay windows, making the properties bright and airy. Newbury Park also has some Victorian and Edwardian properties alongside council-backed housing.

Newbury Park Station Bus Shelter is a distinctive high arched structure with a copper-clad barrel vault roof and is classified as a grade II listed building. The station has three bus routes, 66, 296 and 396, serving the surrounding area.

By road… 

Newbury Park is on the A12, which joins the M25 at Junction 28. London City Airport is just 20 minutes by car.

There is a spattering of local shops, restaurants and cafes in Newbury Park to cater for residents’ day-to-day needs. There are several smaller supermarkets in the area and a large Tesco Superstore towards Barkingside.

For more choice, residents head for Westfield Stratford City, which is one of the largest shopping centres in Europe with over 250 shops.

Newbury Park boasts plenty of local parks to explore.

Fairlop Waters Country Park offers a range of exciting activities, including water sports, fishing and countryside walks. The park regularly hosts a fairground in the summer months.

Valentines Park was once the parkland of Valentines Mansion and now is an award-winning oasis of play areas, walking paths and lots of greenery. If you’re heading that way, don’t miss Valentines Mansion and Gardens, a gorgeous grade II* listed building, open to the public every Sunday & Monday, with restored period furnished rooms and special events throughout the year.

Seven Kings Park is a large green space with football and cricket pitches, basketball and tennis courts, a children’s play area and a skate park.

Our property was on the market for a long time, due to it being an old house that had not been modernised. Sandra Davidson were so good, they marketed it so that a lot of people to view the property, and kept us informed of progress the whole way through. They also have an online feature that allows you to see who has viewed the house; comments they have made and whether offers were made or not. We found this really useful because we were able to get an idea of why our property was not selling as fast as it could have done. The staff themselves were always lovely - so polite, helpful and respectful. We as a family will always remember how kind they were to our dad when he suffered an accident outside their premises years beforehand, not hesitating to rush out and help.
